February 4th, 2023 - The latest album release from Lance Reegan-Diehl is set for online
distribution and sales; February 15th 2023, and direct pre-release CD/MP3 sale from the
website will begin January 25th 2023 . Pre-sale customers will get a chance to have some
of the out takes included in the MP3 bundle, ad well as an 'extended' track that is not
on the album. The album has the shorter version. There are 13 tracks on
'Maniacal Cavern', 9 (nine) of the tracks are instrumental tracks featuring guitar,
and 4 (four) tracks have lyrics. A culmination of tracks and recording from Lance's
studio spanning from 2019 up until 2023, with the last few mixes and
tweaks being handled quite recently in January of 2023.
Features of the tracks are that, many of Lance's musical friends and colleagues,
live in different countries and a good deal of guest performances had to be flown
in to Lance's studio in order to be assembled, and mixed. In this day and age,
it is fairly straight ahead to 'demo' the song, and then have people add tracks
in their own studio. Either in blank spots left in the track, or by totally playing along.
One of the harder tracks to manage and import/fly in is: drums, as using several
odd time signatures, made it harder to program a decent/basic drum track that could
accurately convey the times and changes. And then add a 'cowbell' click track in
order for the remote drummer to play the parts.
Drummer Rob Denni has proved to be the master of this on ' Seven of 4', 'What A Rush',
'Luna Glow', and 'Made of Wood'. Long time drummer and band mate Karl Auger played on
one track called 'Frenzy - Remade 2019'. Originally recorded in 1999, this was a re-visit
as the song had evolved so much from twenty years of live performance, touring, and
band shows to solo artist shows. That it just felt right to remake it. As far as the rest
of the drums go for the record, Lance Reegan-Diehl also played drums on several tracks.
Only one track 'Crying Nut' was programmed drums, by Lance.
The keyboards and synths were played by LRD, Peter Krazulski also contributed some,
and Tracy Williams played piano and Organ on 'Made of Wood' trading licks with Lance,
and playing an Organ solo as well as comping some cool chord changes.
'Praise An Upper Lip' - Features Svenson on guitar, and It also features Joep Van Rhijn,
an awesome Dutch horn player, who lives and works in Seoul Korea. JAy Wittur played bass
on this track. A long time friend, and a one time member of the L.R.D. Band
As far as Bass goes Peter 'Ski' Krazulski pulled off most of the bass parts on the record,
and once the main drums were done, he would play to that track to make it as tight and band
like as possible. Guest players, and soloists, Andrea Quartarone, Svenson,
Tracy Williams, Joep Van Rhijn. They were able to play to almost completed tracks to add
their parts on to. Which turned out to be great additions to the overall record. Bassists,
Jay Wittur (Doug and The Slugs, Trigger Mafia.), and Kevin Stuart Swain
(Thor, Al Harlow, Prism, Idle Eyes), are long time music friends, and their contribution
really made for some cool variations in the 'low end' department.
It might be worth a mention that Lance recorded guitars on the album 'THOR : Alliance'
during 2021 along with Kevin Stuart Swain. As Kevin co-wrote most of the material for THOR,
and brought a lot of players, and friends into the foray for THOR's latest album.
Being that this is the 15th actual album that is mainly written and recorded by LRD.
It came along that this was supposed to be an instrumental record. Involving band mates,
Rob and Ski and dig deep into the prog rock/metal influences,…(IE: Rush, Yes, King Crimson,
Genesis, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Zappa, Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Malmsteen,
Randy Rhoads, and many more..) While this did come to fruition on 9 tracks.
And some of these tracks are into that 'prog' territory of longer than 7minutes.
(9 to 10min for a few.) It also became apparent that a few songs needed lyrics,
and they evolved out of riff's and parts, and words. To become the tracks that
use 'vocals' to convey the feeling.
'The One' in particular was a song based around lyrics. These were written for drummer Rob Denni,
as his Mom passed away while the record was being recorded. Lance wrote the lyrics after
talking with Rob via chat about it. The lyrics were first put to track with voice and guitar
to a click track. The final version evolved around this basic 'bed track' for the song.
And, if you are going to get the Per-sale CD/MP3 bundle….these versions are included.
While many other aspects of this recording came to be as parts came in from around the
world to be assembled into the final track. While many of the creations evolved.
A lot of Lance's guitar parts are layered giving it a full 'thick' sound and melodies
and solo section's often came off inspired and truly out of the on the spot
imagination/improvisation method. Which has it's roots in all of the body of
work by L.R.D. One track that has this element to it is the track called:
'Take Off The 'G' String'. Aside from the suggesting title. It really is one take.
Using the 'G' string of the electric guitar 'only'. The first 4 minute of the track,
have first a lead guitar/melody type tone. One take, no dubs. Followed by a slide
guitar one take no dubs. The later part of the song, had a few more takes to it in
order to make it flow, keep it interesting and explore the entirety of the 'G' string on the electric guitar.
Seven Of 4 - Needs a mention because it truly evolved as it was written. Mainly around
a central riff that was on the guitarists mind for awhile. It finally came to be as a
riff oriented odd time sig tune, with lots of over the top playing on it.
The melody sections came from pure improvisation that lead to the screaming stunning
tonal structures you hear. Ensemble riff's were written out ahead of time and transcribed
for Bass as well as guitar before recording. The main 'solo' section came about from a
nod back to Lance's past, making recordings in the 1990's at Greenhouse Studios,
and at one of Sony's favorites Redstripe Studio's. Both were in Burnaby and recorded
the likes of Sarah McLachlan, Econoline Crush, Devin Townsend,
Strapping Young Lad, and Barenaked Ladies.

The tracks "We Will Fight Forever" and the instrumental release with the same title.
The songs will appear in a film called "Pact of Vengeance". Alliance is the 2021 release
for THOR, and Lance is a featured guest along with Neil Turbin.
Lance incorporates an original unification of styles and ideas to create an individual
sound found in his music, sessions, and TV/movie spots. When he is not hard at work
in the studio, he is touring as a solo artist or in his band L.R.D. globally.

move his understanding and interpretations to another level.
The L.R.D. Band since 2001. Lance Reegan-Diehl - Guitar/Vocals, along with Megan Kim on Vocals,
have kept the band intact for all of these years. The band is an important outlet,
as having a solid group to work with allows for exposure and a broader audience appeal.
Aside from the regular event schedules the band has in Korea, they have performed in Japan
to play Blues Festivals, Taiwan festivals, invited guests in Manila, and Jakarta.
Along with regular guitar spots/clinics at Music Trade Shows, with music venue bookings,
have enabled LRD to travel the world, all the while emitting his own brand of guitar madness.
In addition to being the ultimate musical multi-tasking magician in the studio and onstage,
he passes on his gift as a music teacher and clinician. Lance works from a place that
has a strong foothold and understanding of all aspects of music and how the listener perceives it.
His lecture topics include dealing with the music business, maintaining a repertoire,
getting along with people in very close quarters, and ultimately understanding the language
of the musician. Lance is an endorser of: Chapman Guitars, Graphtech Guitar Parts,
